Best Buy Takes on Guitar Center
Oct 4th, 2008 by Guitar MX Admin
| I was recently visiting my local Best Buy store, and noticed the grand opening of their musical instrument section, selling among other things, guitars, amplifiers and effects. Actually, it wasn’t a section, but a whole store within a store, resembling a Guitar Center location. |

Best Buy has been rolling out these musical instrument stores in 85 of its locations throughout the US. When the rollout is complete, Best Buy will be the second-largest instrument seller in the country based on locations
Best Buy has been selling musical equipment from their web site for a while. Although their online store doesn’t carry any guitars from big name manufactures like Gibson or Fender, these brands are sold at the local store, and they were very well priced.
Will Best Buy be able to take away business from Guitar Center and “mom and pop” music stores? In addition to competitive prices, Best Buy also plans to offer instructional classes, including guitar lessons. They could take a significant bite out Guitar Centers customer base.

Just looking a their online selection and brands offered, I don’t think actual music stores need worry.
It seems that it won’t be long until we will only have one store to shop at. It will be 20 acres big and sell new cars, wood, groceries, clothes, musical instruments, lawn mowers, electronics, and you will be able to get a face lift and tummy tuck if you use you super dupper savings card ten times.
I miss some of the smaller stores in my town that shut down after the big home improvement stores and wal-mart took over.
There are a couple of really good music stores here also that I hope are not affected by Best Buy selling instruments.

Hi
I have been looking for an email or contact form, but had no luck.
I would appreciate if if you could contact me via my email, or blog.
Thanks
All people have to do is go back to having morals, and spend a few extra pennies in the mom and pop store or guitar center. I know its hard in these times, but maybe when it passes, we can afford to spend a few more pennies and save the small stores.
Great – as if Best Buy wasn’t ADD-inducing enough. Now we get to hear kids wanking on Iron Man in stereo – one playing a real guitar and another wannabee playing Guitar Hero.
Hel-lo Amazon!
I am thrilled with Best Buy selling quality guitars. After purchasing a guitar with a broken brace in it from Guitar Center, then experiencing some really bad customer service from Guitar Center, including some lies. I walked into Best Buy , bought a Gibson guitar right out the box. For $350 less than Guitar Centers lowest price. If you know what you are looking for and you do your research, you can buy a really high quality guitar from Best Buy. Thanks Best Buy!
