Brian May Tracks Removed From Chinese Democracy
Nov 6th, 2008 by Guitar MX Admin
| Queen guitarist Brian May had laid down some tracks back in 1999 for “Catcher N’ the Rye”, a song off of Guns N’ Roses new album “Chinese Democracy”. However, May is not credited in the liner notes of the album. It seems Axl Rose scrapped May’s tracks and had another guitarist rerecord it. This was recently pointed out to May, who didn’t realize that his tracks had been removed from the song. The always classy May responded: | ![]() |
Well, it is a shame, perhaps … I did put quite a lot of work in, and was proud of it.
But I could understand if Axl wants to have an album which reflects the work of the members of the band as it is, right now.
I do have mixes of the tracks with my guitar on, work tapes at the time, but they will remain private, out of respect for Axl. – Brian May
Chinese Democracy will be released on November 23, 2008 at Best Buy stores.

Too bad for Axl, Brian May could have given the whole album a huge boost.
