Eddie Van Halen and Fender Team Up for Replica Guitar

Earlier this year, Fender teamed up with Eddie Van Halen to release a replica of Eddie’s famous “Frankenstein” guitar. This is the same guitar he used on the first Van Halen album, and still uses today.
The replica is pretty amazing; complete which matching cigarette burns. Even Eddie had trouble distinguishing the replica from the real thing. Amazingly, replica designer Chip Ellis didn’t have access to the actual guitar, but designed it totally from photographs.
The following short film features an interview with Ed as he discusses how the original Fender-Gibson hybrid was created through, as he puts it, “years of putzing around”. It also features replica creator Chip Ellis.
By the way, the EVH Frankenstein Replica Guitar isn’t cheap. It’s priced at $25,000!
