Gibson Resolves Dispute With Contest Winner
Feb 1st, 2008 by Guitar MX Admin
| Last week, Guitar MX brought you the story of the hip hop artist Tonedeff, who won a Gibson prize package valued at $10,000, but had not received anything in a year and a half since winning the prize. There has been an update to this story. Gibson has delivered on their promise, due to the overwhelming response by those who read about this story on the Internet, especially on the Consumerist blog and the Digg community. | ![]() |
Tonedeff received a call from Gibson CEO, Henry Juszkiewicz, who apologized and assured Tonedeff that the way this incident had been handled was not the Gibson way and the matter would be resolved quickly. The next morning, Tonedeff received a FedEx envelope containing a check from Gibson for the full amount of the prize. Tonedeff used the check to pay off credit card bills he used to pay for new recording equipment.
It seems the Gibson Liaison who handled this case hasn’t been with the company for a few months, so perhaps this was all a misunderstanding. Kudos to Gibson for resolving this matter. They have always seemed like a class company, and it’s nice to see they handled it quickly and fairly once it was brought to their attention.

Good for him!
ask any music shop owner who has sold Gibson and “class company”won’t be part of the conversation
Really? I had no idea. What are some of the reasons? This sounds like an interesting story.
