Guitar Maker To Supply Guitars For Led Zeppelin Reunion
Sep 15th, 2007 by Guitar MX Admin
You’ve probably heard that Led Zeppelin will be reuniting on November 26th for a tribute concert to Ahmet Ertegun of Atlantic records, who signed the band in 1968. The concert is easily the most anticipated rock reunion concert of the year, if not all time. The concert will feature the three original surviving members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, along with John Bonhams’ son Jason on drums.
Along with the band will be guitar maker Hugh Manson, who has been working for the band for over 25 years. Hugh has built guitars specifically for the show, and will be there to look after the instruments. “I have just finished making one new guitar for the concert and am now working on another, which will be a spare. It is a four-string bass which is extra long; at least that is the best way to describe it.”
Hugh has been sitting in on the band’s super-secret rehearsals and called them “hard work but great fun”, assuring that the concert is “going to be fantastic”
Below is a video clip talking about Hugh Mansons work for the upcoming reunion concert:
Hugh and some friends opened a guitar shop fifteen years ago called Manson Guitars, which has become world-renowned, and has created guitars for artists such Oasis, Stereophonics, Muse, Billy Bragg, The Lightning Seeds, Martin Barre of Jethro Tull and Steve Howe of Yes.
