Nearly 2,000 Guitarists Break Guinness World Record
May 7th, 2008 by Guitar MX Admin
Over 1.900 guitarists set a new Guinness world record for playing the Jimi Henirx song “Hey Joe” in unison during the 6th annual ‘Thanks Jimi Festival’ in Wroclaw, Poland. Here is a video from the event.
The new world records breaks two that were set least year. The first one was set by 1,683 guitarists in Kansas City who played “smoke on the Water” in unison back in June of 2007. That record was broken just a couple of weeks later by over 1,800 guitarists in Germany, who played the same song in unison. With a new record set, the only question is, when will it be broken and what song will they play?

Must have been quite a mess
I remember when I saw GNR with 3 guitar players on stage I said to myself they are 1 too many, now with so many guitars…man!!
hahaha….yeah, this is a few too many.
It’s things like these that give me extremely evil thoughts of expiditing the gene pool cleansing with one clean sweep, along with the longest taffy pull, biggest pizza, etc.
Don’t underestimate the power of hometown pride. People will do anything to get their town in the news.
Hey dude,
Thats an awesome effort, we tried it last year in Adelaide and got 1200… we’re trying again in November, but this has raised the bar.
Cheers
