The Amazing Talent of John Butler
Nov 3rd, 2007 by Guitar MX Admin
I recently became familiar with the works of Australian guitarist John Butler. Although he is not yet widely known in the US, he is tremendously popular in Australia. He’s a very talented musician, who’s style is eclectic, but often is described as acoustic world music. In addition to the acoustic guitar, John also plays the banjo, harmonica, didgeridoo, drums and an amplified 12-string acoustic guitar, which you can see him play in this video.
Also worth checking out is this video of John Butler playing Ocean.
His band, The John Butler Trio is currently touring North America, and will be participating in the Myspace.com Rock for Darfur Concert on November 10th, 2007 from New York.

These guys are amazing live they have a real passion for what they do and really engage the crowd, they are all brilliant individual musicians too. I posted a link to a lesson on Guitar Noize after seeing them in Sydney:

I’ve heard that from other people too. They will be coming to the local club soon, so I may check them out.
i’ve known of john butler trio for about 3 years, but haven’t had the chance to see him until this past sunday in Boston. it was the best concert ive ever been to (as well as, as he said, his biggest US gig, with a sold out crowd of 3000)! definately worth checking out, i also got to meet them before the show, and they are all really cool people.
That’s cool. I have heard nothing but good things about these guys, both on and off stage.
