| Last Earth Day, Guitar MX brought you the story of Biodegradable-compostable guitar picks and drumsticks, made by Wheatware, as well as a biodegradable guitar by Gibson. But First Act has created a true “green guitar” made from bamboo. It has a water-based natural matte finish, and uses food safe glue. Bamboo is one of the fastest renewable resources in the world and is harder than maple, making it a perfect source for the fabrication of guitars. |  |

The official position of Guitar MX is that biodegradable guitars are not cool. This just gives an excuse for frustrated guitarists to quit and pitch their instrument into a field somewhere. Guitars should only be destroyed by lighting them on fire, or smashing them into a stage floor or amplifier. Letting Mother Nature tenderly take it back into the earth just isn’t rock’n’roll.
